Gift Giving Policy

Policy:

HHS requires all staff to perform their duties in a professional manner and in accordance with the organisations Code of Conduct.

HHS understands and respects that from time to time a client or a client’s relative may wish to give a staff member a small token gift.

Policy Guidelines:

HHS staff are required to disclose any gifts that have a purchase value of over $20.00 given to them in the course of their duties by a client or the client’s relatives.

Gifts with a purchase value that is greater than $20 can be given to HHS staff but they must be disclosed to HHS.

Scope:

In addition to Gift Giving and in accordance with the organisations Code of Conduct HHS staff are not permitted to:

  • accept gifts of money by way of cash, cheques or a bequest from clients or from a client’s relative.  Offers of this nature must be declined
  • borrow money from clients or a client’s relative
  • undertake the purchase of items or goods on behalf of a client or a clients relative
  • seek or accept payment of any kind for services that are provided as part of the HHS service commitment to that client
