At HHS, we offer a range of services to assist our clients to remain in their own homes. HHS is required to comply with the Occupational Health and Safety legislation and has a responsibility to ensure a safe work environment for all their employees. Domestic Assistance
Our Support Carers assist on a regular basis with tasks such as cleaning toilets and bathrooms,bench tops and cupboard doors, stove tops, stripping and remaking beds, washing floors, vacuuming carpet areas and assistance with laundry. Domestic Assistance service delivery is devided into 6 regions and each region is looked after by an Area Coordinator.

Personal Care
If you care for yourself in your home, or provide care for a frail or disabled relation, we can assist with personal care which includes showering, grooming, dressing, personal hygiene, mobility and more. Home Help Service provides Personal Care under the Home and Community Care (HACC) program. The level and frequency of Personal Care assistance is determined based on the outcome of an individual's assessed needs.
Personal Care support is available seven days per week, 365 days per year, from 6.00am to 10.00pm. An after hours emergency On-Call service operates for Personal Care support outside of office hours and on weekends and public holidays.
Personal Care service delivery is devided into 2 regions, Northside and Southside.

6 am - 9 am , 4:30pm - 10pm

Home and Garden Maintainance
We have an experienced handyperson available to carry out minor maintenance jobs in and around the home, under the HACC Home and Garden Maintenance program.
Services available are:
Minor home maintenance
- Flyscreen repairs
- Replacing light globes
- Repairing sticking doors
- Fence and gate repairs (does not include boundary fences)
- Fitting/repairing shelves and cupboards
- Fitting security locks to doors/windows
- Repairing/replacing locks and catches
- Repairing letterboxes
- Replacing loose or broken tiles
- Construction of flat pack furniture
Minor garden maintenance
- Light pruning and raking
- Path clearing
- Shade cloth repairs
- Clothes line repairs
- Repairing warped and cracked pavers
We are also offering a range of services through our HGM program that can be provided by a qualified tradesperson or contracted Electrician, Plumber and Plumber. All prices are determined by a quote.

Major Clean
Home Help Service ACT Inc. (HHS) offers Major Cleans, a service that provides assistance with heavier tasks and duties that cannot be undertaken by a client or HHS Support Carer and are performed by a dedicated team of staff. The duration, frequency and required tasks of an MC are determined by a HHS Assessor.

Tasks included in the Major Clean Program
- Steam cleaning carpets
- High level dusting and cobweb removal (e.g. tops of cupboards,
pelmets and shelving) - Cleaning ceiling fans, light fittings and exhaust fans
- Cleaning kitchen appliances such as stove, oven, fridge and freezer
- Other kitchen duties such as cleaning of cabinetry, splashback,
rangehood and sink - Cleaning bathroom/s, toilet/s and laundry
- Removal/re-hanging of lace or lightweight curtains needing washing
- Cleaning lower level windows, window ledges and flyscreens
- General duties such as vacuuming and washing floors, skirting boards, light shades and switches.

Home Modifications
Home Help Service ACT Inc. (HHS) is able to offer Home Modifications under the HACC program. Home Modifications refers to structural changes in the home that assist independent living and safety. The program requires an assessment to be completed by an Occupational Therapist who will determine an individual's assessed needs.
Items included in the Home Modifications Program
- Hand rails
- Grab bars
- Ramps
- Bathroom modifications
- Lever/mixer taps
- hand held showers
- Emergency alarms
Assistance is also provided with wheelchair access and bathroom renovations.
Home Modifications does not include additional minor or major structural changes that are not identified within the Occupational Therapist report.
Modifications will be carried out by qualified tradespeople and contractors in accordance with relevant building and trade standards and codes of practice.

Services for Department of Veteran's Affairs Clients
Home Help Service is a service provider for clients holding Department of Veteran's Affairs Gold cards. The following services are provided under our DVA and Veteran's Home Care (VHC) Programs.
Domestic Assistance & In-Home Respite Care under the VHC program.
Domestic assistance provides assistance with basic household tasks such as:
- Household cleaning (internal)
- Bed making
- Clothes washing and/or ironing
- Shopping by list (unaccompanied).
In-home respite care provides assistance to carers by allowing them a break from their caring roles. In-home respite tasks may include:
- Providing companionship
- Ensuring safety
- Offering refreshments and/or assisting with meal preparation
- Assistance with mobilisation and/or toileting if required.
DVA Homefront Program
Home Help Service is a service provider for DVA HomeFront, a falls and accident prevention program. HomeFront provides free annual home assessments to identify potential hazards in and around the home. HHS can then organise for contractors to install safety aids and perform minor home modifications.
VHC Home and Garden Maintainance Program
Home Help Service is a service provider of Home and Garden Maintenance under the DVA Veterans' Home Care (VHC) program.
How to access services
If you are a veteran and are interested in VHC Home and Garden Maintenance, call the VHC assessment agency on 1300 550 450. As with other services, the agency will determine your eligibility and whether the work requested falls within the scope of the VHC program. A co-payment fee will apply for services provided.
